- MicroStation experience or ability to transfer existing CAD skills.

Proffitt & Associates Architects, located in historic downtown Frederick, Maryland, is a small firm concentrating on educational, community, recreational, religious, office, industrial and historic projects. We provide architectural and interior design services to a wide variety of public and private clients throughout Maryland, as well as to the surrounding areas of Washington DC, northern Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
We are seeking an entry level Architectural Designer with strong design and communication skills. Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work with a team in a collaborative process are required. Candidates should have a strong desire to grow in their knowledge base and professional experience. Sustainable design and / or LEED experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated team player, capable of both independent and collaborative work.
- A professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution and 0-2 years of experience in the field.
- Demonstrates basic to moderate knowledge of programming, functional analysis, space planning principles, and construction document preparation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, graphic software (Photoshop, Powerpoint), Word, Excel, Adobe, and database software.
- Ability to generate 3-D models with computer software (SketchUp and Revit) and provide accurate and descriptive hand sketches.
- Ability to attend meetings and record notes, prepare meeting minutes.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Preparing architectural plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules within project schedule and budget guidelines.
- Coordinating within a set of drawings.
- Field measuring and documenting existing conditions.
- Helping prepare graphics for presentation packages: proposals, public meetings, and client meetings.
- Preparing basic cost estimates and completing basic analysis of cost estimates received from cost estimating consultants.
- Assisting Project Architect/Manager in construction administration.
