We are seeking a Project Architect to join our Institutional Studio, which focuses on educational, healthcare and cultural projects. We are looking for candidates with significant experience designing and managing NYC educational projects from start to finish- with a specific emphasis on experience working with the NYC School Construction Authority. This position will lead critical components of educational projects, and oversee the other project team members.
The selected candidate will have strong technical skills, including the ability to develop well-executed and coordinated construction documents. They will have experience in construction administration, Revit fluency and the ability to communicate design ideas graphically and verbally.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor or Masters of Architecture.
- NYC School Construction Authority experience.
- 8-12 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong technical and design skills.
- Team player, able to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Focused, articulate, well-organized and mature.
- Excellent time management skills- able to manage individual tasks and those of the team.
- Fluency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- NYS Architectural Registration, preferred .
- Authorization to work in the US required.

Responsibilities will include:
- Participation in all phases of architectural practice.
- Develop architectural planning and design concept under the direction of the senior project manager.
- Coordinate architectural design and building systems with engineering consultants.
- Conducting research and development of all project materials, including design options.
- Supervise project design and detailing by junior production staff.
- Preparing project presentation materials, diagrams, rending and graphics.
- Production of architectural drawings and documentation.
- Work with city and/or county agencies to resolve code related issues.
Qualifications are:
- Bachelor or Masters of Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Experience in Type V, III and I construction types.
- Hands-on BIM experience required, ArchiCAD preferred.
- Knowledge of local codes; (Santa Monica, Los Angeles) including ADA requirements.
- Experience and knowledge of architectural design, drafting, detailing, building materials, California building codes, construction techniques.
- Experience in design and detailing project through construction documentation level.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in design conception and presentation, as well as construction documentation.
- Architectural license not required, however applicants should be actively pursuing licensure in California.
