Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in conceptual design, design presentation, construction documentation and construction administration. We are seeking a talented individual with the ability to work both independently in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a project team. Excellent management and communication skills are essential. Strong organizational and technical skills are required. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or have permanent residence status and hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture. CA Licensure is advantageous.

This sixty strong multidisciplinary design unit provides an urban design, public realm design, civil engineering design, historic environment, and public art service as part of the integrated services of the Place Directorate. The work of the group spans design advice to development management teams on major multi-million pound development and infrastructure schemes, the development of design guidance to the design and delivery of public realm projects on the ground. What you'll need to succeed:
You will be a highly skilled and experienced professional with significant managerial, creative direction and communication skills. You will have a proven track record in the delivery of quality design relevant to the work areas of the group. You will have the skills to guide and support Team Managers and designers in the achievement of work programmes and individual projects. You will take a lead responsibility, working with team managers, for business and resource planning, delivery of financial, HR and performance protocols, staff development and training. You will be a knowledgeable and accomplished communicator capable of acting as an advocate for design quality and place making across the Place Directorate. You will support and advise the Planning Service Director and the Place Leadership Team, elected members and the Mayor s Office. You will regularly engage with a diverse range of external stakeholders including Historic England, the HCA, Network Rail, the Bristol Urban Design Forum and Bristol Civic Society.
