We are looking for someone who has some degree of previous professional experience (e.g. summer internships, design build projects), has excellent design and representation skills, and is familiar with construction documents produced in AutoCAD.

- Excellent design, communication, and presentation skills
understanding of construction drawing sets, how they are organized, etc.
- 100% proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe suite, and physical model making.
- Mature, responsible, and easy going.

Merrell O'Flaherty Dormer Architects is a small well-established architectural practice located in the spa town of Harrogate, undertaking projects throughout Yorkshire and the Dales.
We primarily specialise in creating sustainable, contemporary and traditional designs in the private domestic sector. Projects range from new build to barn conversions, country houses to modest extensions and also include alterations to traditional and Listed Buildings. We have a reputation for well designed, high quality projects which has resulted in repeat commissions and recommendations from our established client base. Many of our projects are located within sensitive areas including National Parks, AONBs and local conservation areas.
Due to forthcoming retirments we are looking to recruit an experienced Architect to join our team. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be available to take up this position in January 2016. The position is Full Time and candidates will be fully qualified Architects with a minimum of five years post-Part III experience.
Candidates should have the skill to produce high-quality design and detailed construction drawings efficiently and a proficient understanding of Planning Policy and Building Regulations. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with private clients, members of the design team and contractors, and have a proven ability to manage domestic projects on site. Applicants will be considered on the relevance of these abilities and skills to the practice and the salary is negotiable to reflect this. Our office has projects in both urban and rural locations and so candidates must have their own transport.
Applicants need to be motivated and enthusiastic, happy to work independently and as part of a team, with a practical approach to problem solving. A proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to produce freehand drawings is required. The skill to maximise the design potential of any project is essential.
